ETSC Technologies Co.

Portable Power Systems was founded in 1995 by two engineers from McDonnell Douglas Laser Systems Company. We have over 45 years of combined experience in designing and building laser diode drivers for various branches of the government as well as private industry, universities, and individuals. Some of these companies include NASA Goddard, NASA Houston, Lawrence Livermore National Labs, the Air Force Weapons Lab, Rofin Sinar, TRW, Special Devices Inc., Johnson&Johnson, Northrop/Grumman, Boeing and others. Our engineers have not only been involved with laser diode drivers but have also worked extensively with laser diodes, laser bars, and laser diode arrays. We have been involved with laser diode material growth and research in single emitter laser diodes, laser diode bars and laser diode arrays, both single and multi mode. We hold several patents with laser diodes in various applications, so we know how lasers work and what type of power supplies and temperature controllers they work best with. We have designed and build laser diode drivers for applications as complex as free space audio and video communications, phased arrays, pyrotechnics, photodynamic therapy, and satellite communcations and as simple as basic PI curves and catastrophic damage level tests for laser diode characterization. Our company designs and builds standard products, as shown on this web site, and also custom laser diode drivers for lower current C.W. and pulsed units to high current C.W. and pulsed units.

Products include:

  • Laser diode driver
